Louis Saha is determined to repay Everton's faith in giving him a new deal with more goals.
The Frenchman celebrated signing his new two-year deal with a superb double in Everton's impressive 2-1 win over league leaders Chelsea on Wednesday night.
Saha was delighted to resolve his long-term future so that he can focus on scoring more goals, but he has refused to set a target having netted his 15th of the campaign against the Blues.
"It's really good to have the contract talk settled," Saha told the Liverpool Echo.
"It was a bit stressful and I'm glad we found an agreement.
"Now I want to show every day and at every opportunity that I can work hard.
Target
"I don't set goal targets. I just want to play most of the games and get myself in a good position to score more goals and they will come.
"The main thing is to stay at the right level.
"I signed and committed my future to the club and my aim is to do the best I can."
Saha refused to take all the plaudits for Everton's success over Chelsea, claiming the whole side deserved praise for the performance
"It was not about my performance, more about a great team spirit," added Saha.
"I'm so happy to be a part of it.
"It was always going to be hard after we lost in the derby even though I don't think we played badly.
"It seemed like it was just not our day, so against a big club like Chelsea it was important we showed our belief and we took the opportunity."
Saha is enjoying his best run of form in years after a number of niggling injuries and the striker is at a loss to explain why his injury record is so much better at Goodison Park than at former club Manchester United.
"I'm not doing anything differently now, I'm just getting more luck with injuries," noted Saha.
"I'm looking for answers to why it's better but I never find them so I just get on with it."
